DESTIN is still the happiest fishing village and it is still one of the best fishing villages in the country, if not the world.
At the western tip of the peninsula is the eastern pass (also known as Destin Pass), which separates the peninsula from Santa Rosa Island in the west. Fort Pickens is located at the western end of Santa Rosa and Niceville Island on the Mid Bay Bridge, which connects both by road. US Route 98 leads 90 miles east to Panama City and 80 miles further east, and the only other major highway in the area, Florida State Highway 99, is west of you and leads from the south into Florida's capital, Orlando.

Spend a lazy day in the Gulf of Mexico on the beach or in a boat with friends or family, or even swim in a kayak or pedal boat.

This popular new arrival in Destin's harbour, which has just opened and is already receiving high visitor ratings, has been named one of the area's top ten restaurants in the past two years. His main claim to fame is that he has been named "Best Sports Bar" by readers of Destin Magazine, but there is also live music and a wide selection of food and beverages to buy. There are plenty of fishing rods and baits that are suitable for beginners and advanced, just bring your own cooler everything else is included.
This is one of the most established and popular places to stay in Destin and enjoy a game, and during the summer months enjoy the weekly fireworks display in the harbor. Take a sunset cruise, paddle into the harbor, soak up the sun and take in the breathtaking view of a sun gliding from the sky and sinking into the water, with the colors of the sky reflecting the gold, purple, orange and lavender glittering on the water. Enjoy the scenery while watching holidaymakers on the waterfront and passing boats. This is the only place where you could dock, just a few blocks from all the other restaurants and bars in town and the beach, but still just a short walk away.

A fairly new restaurant and bar that have received rave reviews is Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House. It was rated among the top 20 restaurants in Destin out of 300 and received 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor.
